Ben Shapiro “versus” the Alt-Right
As I predicted, little Ben’s speech at Berkeley didn’t result in the university being burned to the ground by “antifa”, or really much excitement at all. The student newspaper has a write-up of the event. It includes this telling passage.
Shapiro specifically mentioned that he is not a member of the “alt-right” — a white nationalist movement — stating that he spent half of his career attacking the “alt-right.” Discussion and debate, Shapiro said, is what America is “all about.”
…
Kyle “Based Stickman” Chapman, a Trump supporter who was arrested and sentenced for striking people with a large stick at several Trump rallies last spring, attended the event and asked a question about “racism against whites” during the Q&A portion of the event.
OK Ben, here’s your chance. Confronted by a leader of the alt-right, you can call out and denounce their racist fantasies of “white genocide”. You can tell the world how these false ideas are used to recruit and radicalize vulnerable young men to fascism.
Shapiro responded by calling affirmative action a racist policy.
Or you can fart out some well worn conservative talking point about affirmative action and reverse racism. Sure, let’s go with that.
